The collection consists of letters from Ernest Leo Gordon to his mother, Mrs. E.L. Gordon of Hull, Georgia. Letters describe Gordon's basic training at Fort McPherson, Georgia; Camp Bowie, Texas; and his radio training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. In 1945, Gordon wrote from England, France, Belgium, Germany, and Czechoslovakia mainly about family, friends, and items he requests. Gordon's letters also mention the battles he participated in and his duties during the post war months.

The collection consists of a 168 page typescript (photocopy) of THE 116TH AAA GUN BN MOBILE, compiled and styled by John Grove Murray. The volume chronicles the unit from its beginning in 1943 through the Normandy Invasion on Utah Beach on 6 June 1944, on through Paris and Sedan, France into Belgium, Holland and Germany. Included are unit commendations, rosters, and other vital statistics. Written in the 1940s, Col. James D. Shearouse added his comments 42 years later.

The collection consists of a typed manuscript written by Raymond R. Chaffin in 1993 of his memories of World War II. Chaffin states, "This is written only for my children and grand-children, at their request." Chaffin includes some photocopied pages at the beginning and end that include his discharge papers, a roster of his company, a list of the company's medal recipients, a citation to award of his Silver Star, a list of the company's dead and wounded in action, a map of Europe, and a photograph of Utah Beach after D-Day.

The collection consists of correspondence from McCanless during his military service with the U.S. Army in World War II, to his father Leo McCanless, his stepmother Kathleen McCanless, and his Aunt Inez Doss, all of Canton, Georgia. From August 1942 - June 1944 McCanless wrote from various military training camps in the United States describing his training activities, the areas, and news of family and friends. After June 1944, McCanless wrote from England, France, Belgium, and Germany. His letters describe his trip overseas, the English countryside, the destruction in France, United Service Organization Shows, prices for commodities, V-E day and peace, his opinion of the German people, his duties questioning Germans to determine their role in the war, and his participation in the Normandy invasion and the destruction and casualties from the battle.

The collection consists of biographical information, genealogy, correspondence, writings, artwork, scrapbooks, financial papers, printed material and photographs. Much of the correspondence is between Sewell and Mary Brumby and from their friends, especially their friends in Japan. The Hart family correspondence revolves around Mary Elmira Bullard Hart, with letters from her husband William Thomas Hart, and their children Louise Hart Hunt (1911-1987), Mary Hart, and William Bullard Hart (1918-1985). There is also correspondence of Marianne Brumby, Mira Lee "Candle" Brumby, Sewell Robeson Brumby, the Bullard family, the Blackmar family and the Pittman family. John Ray (1792-1868) was a lawyer and teacher in Newnan, Georgia. The connection between the Ray/ Barker families and the Brumby/Hart families is unclear. Genealogy research done by Sewell Brumby concerns the Brumby, Hart, Sewell and Pittman extended families and includes research correspondence with family members. Writings are by various family members, especially the poetry of Louise Hart Hunt and family cookbooks and recipes used for Mary Brumby's publication. Several Blackmar family scrapbooks are included. Financial papers include estate papers of Mary Blackmar Bullard and Mary Elmira Hart with personal property inventories. There is also a household inventory of Sewell Brumby's house for insurance purposes, and information on loans and donations of Japanese items to museums. There are numerous photographs of family, houses and other subjects.

The collection consists of papers of Kate Harben Jones from 1922-1947. Includes corrected typescripts of Jones' essays, short stories, and reminiscences; photographs of the Jones family; correspondence; and v-mail. Most of the correspondence (1933-1945) consists of letters to Jones from her son, Herbert F. Jones, during his military service in World War II. Herbert wrote from Fort Riley (Kan.), Camp Gordon (Ga.), Fort Dix (N.J.), and Fort Pierce (Fla.) describing his military training, military service clubs, and the local areas. After being shipped overseas (1944), Herbert wrote from England, Germany, and France describing the area, the people and their reaction to American military troops, the Normandy invasion, reconnaissance patrols, wounds he received, his medical treatment, and military activity after Germany's surrender. The correspondence also contains letters to Kate Jones from other family members and literary acquaintances.
